New Years Celebrations

First I just want to thank you for your support on my first blog entry!  I look forward to getting to know you throughout this year!

I love the New Years celebration.  It’s the celebration of a fresh start, a way of pursuing new goals.  As I mentioned in my first post, I have made resolutions for the past two years that had something to do with blogging.  First, I blogged every day, then no blogging at all.  I think this year I will take a break from the new year’s resolutions all together, just to change things up.  🙂

Another reason I love the New Years celebration is the time we spend with friends.  This year, we went to our friends’ house.  It was so much fun!

First, we had a Taco buffet for dinner.  It was so good!  For dessert, our other friends brought an apple caramel pie and ice cream.  I didn’t get a picture of the dessert because it was so good I forgot the camera.  Seriously, I have some talented friends!

Then we played games until midnight.  First, we played a dice game called Farkle.  This is a neat game because you can be on a losing streak, and it just takes one roll of the dice to change your luck.  Lisa, who started out in the bottom bracket at the beginning of the game, was our champion of the night!

The next game played was “Ticket to Ride” which is a strategy game involving trains.  It can last a couple hours if you have some real strategists in your midst.  Basically, you are trying to get from one part of the country to the other using all of your trains.  The trick is to not get blocked by the other trains and not giving away your destinations.  Lisa’s husband won that game.  🙂

At midnight, we filled our glasses, watched the ball drop and got a smooch from my sweetie.  🙂  Perfect end to the evening…er…morning?

What did you do to celebrate?  Do you have any special traditions?

  1. I totally love this! I sat around until mid night at the fd with my husband and t
hen went home and crashed lol. Its times like this that suddenly makes me feel old :0)

  2. Congrats on the new blog! Thanks for stopping by mine! Sounds like you had a great new year celebration, I could barely keep my eyes open…

  3. We had a few friends over. We were going to play games but ended up telling stories all night. I stayed up until 1. It was very hard. I hope to not repeat that anytime soon. 😛

  4. I love the feeling of “New Year’s” too! It’s the chance to set new goals and make some changes (not that you can’t during the year too, but it’s a fun way to start a new year.) We always eat dinner w/ my in-laws (they are really into New Year’s) and then we come home before the crazies hit the road and we watch a movie and just spend time together. The last couple of years, someone has set off fireworks nearby so we get to enjoy those at midnight. Gotta love being near a fairground. Happy New Year!
