If I haven’t said it before, my church family is awesome. They have helped both Michael and me grow in our spiritual journey. They are patient and kind, excellent mentors and examples, and I am blessed to be a part of this family.
One amazing thing they do each year is a Baby dedication. While Michael and I are still not quite ready to take on this particular adventure, we have several friends who have at least one or two little ones in their homes. Every year, the babies born in that year go up with their families to be introduced to the congregation. There are always so many babies every year!
Then, one of the families will lead the rest of them in the Parents Covenant. It is a beautiful promise that these parents are making to their new addition to their family.
Afterwards, we all pray for the families and their children.
But that’s not all! Then, the church will stand and say its own covenant to these families. I can’t help but giggle at the part about looking at all their pictures. I have to say that with my friends, I have definitely lived up to that promise quite willingly. 🙂
Living so far away from our families used to bring a fear for when we do start to have kids. However, I know that this church family will be behind us 100%.
