Growing our Garden

Last weekend, we did the finishing touches on our garden beds in the back.  It’s taken a couple more weekends than intended due to my husband’s crazy accountant schedule and the unpredictable weather lately.  No matter.  It is completed and it is beautiful. 🙂

These are our before and after pictures of our vegetable garden.  We have found that something has been nibbling on the leaves of late, which will be remedied soon.  Everything is in the ground, though, so that’s really what matters.  We have even had our first radishes already!  They sprouted crazy fast!

One of the garden beds doesn’t change very much since all it contains are rose bushes.  However, the roses are blooming.  🙂

I have a little garden space at the end that changes every year.  This is a before and after of this year’s garden bed.

I always planted gerber daisies, even though they only survive about 75% of the time.  I just can’t pass them up at the store.

I also planted some geraniums.  I think it’s the color pink.  Anything with the color pink, I’m sold.  This massive plant on the bottom left part of the picture started as a tiny basil plant I started when we lived in the apartment.  It produces some lovely basil, which is one key ingredient in a lot of our Italian dishes.

I can’t wait to sit outside in the garden and eat lunch this summer.  It will be so beautiful!

  1. Oh I LOVE this! We moved from a house with a big yard to a townhouse with nothing but flagstone in the small patio out front. I would love to have a garden here, but as of yet, we don’t have a place for it. I know I could do potted plants/veggies, but I guess I’ve been too lazy on the weekends to get it going. It does take a lot of work, but I love the rewards! Please post more pics as the growing season continues!
