Always Remember

It’s all over Facebook, in the news, everywhere – people remembering 9/11.

I remember where I was when I heard about it.  I was sitting in chapel as a freshman in a private Christian university.  The president of the university made the announcement that one of the towers had been hit by a plane.  The image in my head was not even close to the images on the TV when I got back to the room.  It felt like I was watching a movie.  People were all over campus, watching TV and walking around quite numb.

I remember the day my brother told me he was joining the Army Reserves.  I didn’t break down until I was alone with Michael, but it’s hard to keep the scary thoughts away.  He spent about a year in Afghanistan, and every day I was praying for his safety.  We aren’t sure if or when his next tour will be.

I have a lot of friends in the military who risk their lives every day for this country.  My thoughts and prayers go to them today, as well as the families affected by the 9/11 attacks.
