The next day was the fourth! My dad works for Tractor Supply, so we all donned our patriotic t-shirts for the parade in Downtown (except my brother, who had his own patriotic shirt).
Michael and I went to this parade last year, and we loved it, so this was a must for the day. Of course, what parade would be complete without classic cars, patriotic themes, horses and boy and girl scouts?
We grilled hamburgers that night before heading out to the fireworks display. It was so good! Michael and Dad did a great job!
Then we headed to the Red White and Boom of McKinney. There was a free concert with Jason Castro, who won 4th place on the 7th season of American Idol. He is a Christian singer-songwriter, and I loved his song Rise To You.
There were also food trucks at the event. They had brick oven pizza, snow cones, smoothies and so much more. I couldn’t pass up trying the beignets at Cajun Tailgators (since I grew up in New Orleans). They were pretty good, though I prefer Café Du Monde.
Then it was fireworks time. We had a spectacular view and a great time celebrating the birth of our country!
