Pumpkins and Parties!

We had, yet again, another busy weekend, but it was super fun.  Here’s another weekend of pictures!

First, I hosted a Pumpkin Carving Party at my house with my small group.  I’m not going to lie.  I totally got most of the idea off of Pinterest.  I hadn’t been on the site for quite a while, and then it started calling my name.  This might do some damage in the coming months, but for now, it definitely helped me pull together this party!

Clementine and Celery made up the pumpkins with a couple banana ghosts thrown in (you have to get really ripe bananas to make it work, and my grocer didn’t have many to choose from, so the ghosts were limited edition).  Then, I made apple cider, which turned out great.  1/4 tsp of nutmeg, 1/2 tsp of cinnamon, two bottles of apple juice and a few short cinnamon sticks.  It worked out really well.  And then, of course, I roasted some of the pumpkin seeds that people scooped out of their pumpkins.  I did three flavors – plain, cajun, and cinnamon sugar.  It was nice to munch of them after an afternoon of carving and catching up.

Sunday, we attended this sweet girl’s first birthday party.  I totally forgot my camera, so these are phone shots.  The cake was adorable.  The mom (one of my good friends) made three kinds of soups with all the fixings.  She even made cookies to take home as party favors.  It was such a sweet party, and we are so blessed to be a part of their lives!

Finally, Sunday night was trunk or treat.  We decided to combine the carving party with our theme for Trunk or Treat and made it into a pumpkin patch.  Our dogs were good sports, and all the kids loved on them!  I was so proud of how patient and sweet they were!  There were a good number of canines at the event, and one parent said that by the time they went through, their kids were begging for a dog!

I do have to highlight one of the best “trunks.”  One of the guys at our church spent two months working on a Ecto-mobile from Ghostbusters.  He even had a pack on his back!  The detail was extraordinary.  There were other great trunks there too, and we had a record number of guests!  It was a great night and a wonderful weekend!
