This was the last week of my Holiday Vlogs. I can’t believe the end has come to these daily videos. At times, it was quite stressful to try balancing the busy-ness of the holidays with the daily uploading of the vlogs. I have a lot of respect for those people that do this 365 days a year. I certainly couldn’t do it!
Anyway, here’s a recap of the week!
The week began with the celebration of our anniversary. We have been married now for 6 years! I am so blessed to have such a thoughtful, patient, wonderful man to call my husband. We take turns each year planning our celebration, and this year was Michael’s turn. Everything was quite a wonderful surprise for me. We started by watching The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, a movie I thoroughly enjoyed. I wrote a small review of that movie here. After that, we had dinner at The Melting Pot, one of my favorite fancy places to eat. We ended the evening by staying that the Grand Hyatt in Dallas, the same hotel we stayed after returning from Europe in 2012. I have to say that this is definitely one of my top favorite hotels. It was a wonderful celebration, indeed!
The celebration continued the next day. We had room service for breakfast at the hotel (a special treat we do every anniversary), and then we went shopping for a bit. Michael gave me my anniversary gift that morning, two beautiful pieces of jewelry!
Both of these are from a Hawaiian etsy shop called Lychee Kiss. The one of the left is a purple amethyst, perfect for the sixth anniversary, and the right one is a beautiful bracelet. Michael did good.
The next day, it was back to the regularly scheduled program. This week was rather odd, since we had a day off right in the middle of the week. There was so much to do and so little time to do it in. I have this really quirky ritual on New Years Eve. I like to have the entire house cleaned up (not perfect, but tidy) and all the trash out of the house. I don’t know when or why I started this tradition, but it has stuck with me. Anyway, so basically that was what I did when I wasn’t working, and my sweet boy was off work through New Years Day, so he helped me out a lot.
We don’t usually have a whole lot of options when it comes to New Years. Usually, we just hang out with our small group, but this year, our new small group was so spread over the metroplex that it wasn’t an option. Instead, this year, we had a number of invitations from people to go to their parties. We felt like quite the jetsetters. Haha! However, when the day finally came, we made the decision to just stay at home. We have been out and about more this season than we have in years past, so we decided a quiet night at home sounded like the perfect way to ring in the new year. We made appetizers for the evening and watched the ball drop in New York, and then in Las Vegas as well. 2013 was quite a year for our little family, and I am excited to see what the new year will bring us in 2014.
And as all good things must come to an end, so ends our Holiday Vlog Series of 2013. I ended it with our first day of the new year, a day full of Black Eyed Peas, Donuts, and Cabbage, a day full of filming. Lots of filming. See, next week, I’m going to take a little break from the interwebs, and in my stead, I’m going to be doing a series on my New Year Resolutions. That will only be posted on my YouTube channel (if you saw today’s video, then you already know that), so if you want to watch them as they come up, I would encourage you to subscribe to my Youtube channel here.
I will still be putting up a What I Watched Wednesday as well as a recap of those resolutions for you guys scheduled for next Saturday in my Recap of the Week. Both of these I’m going to write early so I can take a step back from the internet.
So that was my week. I hope everyone has a great week next week! Did everyone have a great New Year celebration? Have you started on those resolutions yet?
