Recap of the Week: January 18th to the 24th

This year has honestly had a pretty rocky start, perhaps literally with the rocking boat during our cruise.  I feel like I’m treading water.  First glance, you might think it’s all those goals I made at the beginning of the year, but I can assure you that I haven’t even begun most of them.  The first week of the year was spent prepping for the cruise, the second week was the cruise and the third week was recovering from the cruise and trying to get back into my normal schedule.  The reality is that getting back into any semblance of a schedule has proved to be extremely difficult.

I really thought I was gaining ground last week and that this week, I would finally be able to create a schedule that I can live by as the skeletal structure of my day.  One thing both Michael and I realized at the end of the year last year is that I’m not good with chaos.  I thrive in structure, and this month has not allowed any thriving.

Saturday, I got my nails done, which was really quite relaxing.  I chose the OPI color Blushingham Palace so that it will transition well into the Valentine’s Day season.  This past Monday, I flew to my company’s headquarters for our annual meeting.  Tuesday, I was playing catch up again, but at least I got to spent time with my puppies.  Then, Wednesday, I got pretty sick with a 24 hour illness on top of that lovely time of the month, so I spent the majority of the day in bed, cuddled up to this adorable AromaHome knitted dog hottie.  It’s infused with chamomile and lavender essential oils, so it really helped me sleep and recover.  Thursday was another day spent catching up, and I started to feel like I was again, treading water – just doing the absolute minimum to get through the day.

Then, Friday, I finally felt like I broke through the chaotic barrier.  I got a lot accomplished at both home and work, and even though I still felt tired, it was a good tired.

That night, we went into Dallas for the Rock and Worship Roadshow, primarily to see Skillet, but there were a host of other bands playing as well, including Third Day.  It was a great night, and we didn’t get home until well after midnight, but it was so worth it.  Here’s a video I made today which includes a few clips of the evening.

I still have a good bit on my plate, but the amount has gone down significantly.  Next week is definitely going to be a lot less busy, and I will finally be able to work on a new daily and weekly schedule, as well as incorporate more of my new year goal plans into my life.  I also hope to set up a schedule for posting on this site.  I have some ideas that are still percolating and processing, but I hope to roll those out before the end of February.  All good things are coming soon to this blog, and I’m so excited!

  1. I can’t wait to watch your vlog in a bit… AND I’m kind of the same way. I tend to get overwhelmed when too much is going on. And then I dread even fun things, because I just want things to be more organized and structured. So I definitely understand what you’re saying. 🙂

    1. Yeah, it’s definitely hard to complain when all the crazy busy-ness has been really good things happening in our life (except the illness, that was not fun at all!). Today was the last really busy day scheduled for me (poor husband still has a few left to go!), but this week is definitely looking a LOT more like my normal, structured week. We are such kindred spirits. 🙂
