Weekly Check In 03/08/2015

Last week had some good times and some bad times.  It was really a pretty balanced week, which are the types of weeks I prefer.  I don’t mind having a bad moment or day in my week if there are good days to balance it out.  Of course, I guess if you are constantly searching for the good amongst the bad, you can have pretty balanced weeks either way.  But I digress.

So, the week started out with my third cycle since the miscarriage.  Technically, physically, it means that we could start trying again, but since it was so late in the pregnancy, my doctor advised us to do one more emotional check up before making that decision.  I’ve been back and forth about this decision several times, especially in the past month.  I mean, I want kids, no question there, but it’s the starting to try again now versus waiting a few more months that I’m wavering on.  Some days I think I’m ready, other days I’m not so sure.  I think I will feel better once I have that next emotional check up with the doctor, which is happening later this month.

About the middle of the week, the temperature dropped significantly.  In a matter of hours the precipitation went from rain to sleet to ice to snow overnight.  Thursday morning, everything was shut down again.  Michael stayed home and, since he had a flex day on Friday, got to enjoy a four day weekend.  Since I work from home, I didn’t have a snow day, but it was still pretty enjoyable.  The first snow we had this month didn’t have the right kind of snow to build a snowman, but this one did, so we made our grumpy old man snowman of the year.

The snow was almost all gone by Saturday, which was quite a busy day for me.  I went to Michael’s (the craft store, not my husband) to pick up more planner supplies, then had a facial at a Hand and Stone Spa.  Apparently, they are a chain of spas, and you can get a monthly membership for a massage or facial, kind of like a gym membership.  It was tempting to get the membership, especially with my “get pampered every month” goal, but I want to try other more local places in my area as well, so I think I’m going to pass.

After the facial, I had a quick lunch and then headed to the SPCA for a training class.  I really liked the class because we got to handle dogs for most of the class.  It was really a lot of fun, and I plan to do some more service work today (Sunday).  After that, I did a bit of clothes shopping with Michael and then we settled in for the night.  It was quite a long day, but really fun.

I’m looking forward to this next week.  I’ve been working on how-to videos at work, and they seem to be working really well.  I’m hoping to complete a lot of it this week and next.  Also, my brother is getting married next weekend, which is just crazy to me.  I will have all that for you next week!  Check in with you then!

  1. Katy, you have a lot going on, and I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It must be devastating. My sister had one in December, and I can’t imagine.
She tried again just as soon as it was safe, but it all depends on what you feel is right. I’m praying for you.

I love your snowman! Continue to pamper yourself. I’d like to take that as inpsiration, and pamper myself too. ♥
    Be well. ~

    1. Thank you for your sweet words and prayers. Hopefully the upcoming doctor’s appointment does go well.
And I definitely encourage you to pamper yourself. It’s just so much better to work after we have a moment to rest or pamper ourselves!
