I like to think of myself as an organized person, but the reason I am as organized as I am is because I am easily distracted and scatter-brained. I need to have a certain amount of structure in my day so I can be productive. And organization that includes stickers and color codes only makes it more fun.
I saw my first Erin Condren planner on a table at a friend’s house. I decided to try it for myself last November. I was then introduced to “Plan with Me” videos on YouTube where people plan their weeks and share that with fellow planners, called planner addicts. Then, around the spring, I was introduced to the planner sticker world on Etsy, and now I am hooked.
I do a lot of events and projects at work and try to balance it with all the personal things I’m involved with as well, so I like to use the planner to space out my tasks and events to make sure they are all done without getting overwhelmed. When I plan out my week, I use checkbox stickers to create a to-do list for each day. Then, as the week progresses, I use the rest of that day’s space to record memories from that day, or just decorate space to pull the week together. Here’s this week’s layout so far.
I love the fact that I have a planner and a scrapbook all in one. Truthfully, I hate to scrapbook. It took me 7 years to scrapbook a trip to Italy with my grandmother. I’ve also done online scrapbooking which is great with pictures, but not so much with the small memorabilia from events. Now, I use the planner to store little things that I keep, like ticket stubs.
Last weekend, we saw Ant-Man (hilarious movie). When we see a movie, I take the ticket stub, fit it to a box in my planner and place a frame around it to secure it (I also use scrapbook tape on the back). Then, I have a unique way to store my ticket stubs that will remind me of the day and weekend.
I love the fact that I can use this planner as both a planning tool and a scrapbook. I like to keep my planners in a box once I’m done with that year, so it will be neat to look back to find out what I was doing around this time in my life. Are you a planner addict? How do you stay organized? Do you save ticket stubs? If so, how do you store them?
