Every year since we have been married and lived in Dallas (which is basically the same thing), we go to the Dallas State Fair.
It always seems to work out that we go during the Red River Rivalry, which is the big football game between the UT Longhorns and the OU Sooners. We figured out that if we get there after kickoff or after half time, we miss a lot of the crowds.
One thing we always do is take a picture on the ferris wheel, the Texas Star.
Then we have to check out some of the winning fried foods, like the pretzel crusted queso balls (below left) and the top winner, the Holy Moly Carrot Cake Roly (below right)
After we took in all the sights, we got back on the Dallas metro, called the DART. That is another awesome decision because we avoid so much traffic and parking issues, even on a busy fair day.
On our way back, we stopped in Downtown Plano for a bite to eat. We ate at this incredible comfort food restaurant called Angela’s Crosswalk.
Michael had a cheese steak and I had the catfish po’boy, with an amazing key lime pie.
The weather was gorgeous. The food delicious. And memories were made. Overall, it was an amazing Saturday.
What did you do this weekend?
