What We Did This Weekend

I’m slowly getting into a groove with my new normal, which also includes getting out on the weekends.  We had a pretty full schedule this weekend.  Nothing like jumping in with both feet!

This weekend was the 9th annual Oktoberfest in McKinney.

I have two traditions each year.  First, we share a pretzel.

Then, we get a root beer at Wild Bill’s Soda.  We bought a commemorative mug three years ago.  Each year after that, we get $5 of unlimited refills all day.  It’s a pretty sweet deal.

We did a lot of other things this weekend as well that spread across a wide spectrum of emotions.  We attended a memorial for a friend’s dad which was absolutely beautiful.  Grief is a hard journey, and knowing that others are willing to walk with you is an encouraging gift.  I also got to see friends that I hadn’t seen in a while at church and went to a board game night on Sunday night.  It was a busy weekend, but fun and encouraging.  A great start, for sure!
