Celebrating Our Anniversary

Last week, Michael and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary.  We started a tradition a few years ago to try a steakhouse somewhere here in Dallas and stay at a hotel for the night.

This year, we ate at Al Beirnat’s restaurant.

It was amazing.  I had the Filet “Oscar” and we got roasted Brussel sprouts to share.

Originally, the sprouts are cooked in bacon, but I’m allergic to pork.  They were able to make them sans bacon and they were still amazing.  They also surprised us with this german chocolate cake and ice cream.  It was so good!

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt DFW.  It’s a hotel attached to the main airport in Dallas.  We stayed here four years prior on our way back from Europe.  We had such a lovely stay that year, that we try to stay here around our anniversary if possible.  They sent up chocolate covered strawberries which were a perfect treat.

The next day, we went to Color Me Mine to paint pottery, since the traditional gift for this anniversary is pottery.  Michael and I really enjoyed painting.  It was kind of a zen experience, just painting the pottery.  Michael has painted in the past, and he’s way better at it than I am, but I’m still pretty proud of my creation too!  I made a small video about the trip (and I mean really small, I think it’s less than a minute).

I am so blessed to be walking this life with Michael.  Every up and down just brings us closer together.

Do you have any special traditions with your significant other?

  1. Goodness me! That food looks like absolute perfection! My parents live close to Dallas, so I have to let them know about this place! Happy Anniversary! That’s amazing. ❤ I wish you both many, many more beautiful years.
