Finally Done!

So, for one of my new year goals for 2015, I wanted to finish some projects in my master bedroom.  And now I’ve finally finished and taken pictures to show you!

So, the first thing I completed was my drawer organization.  I bought all of the baskets from Target, and I organized the sock drawer, underwear drawer and pajama drawer20151217_123843.jpg

The next thing I worked on was updating the bedding for our bed.  My pup is nicely modeling for us as well.  I finally got a duvet insert and cover, something I have been wanting to buy for years.  I also got holiday pillows for the bed.  I plan to get another cover for the spring and summer time, but that will be something for next year!

This is the final project I worked on.  Each picture represents a year we have been together.  I had fallen behind on the frames the last couple of years, but now I’m all caught up and have a plan for the next ten. 🙂

Did you accomplish any goals/projects this year?

2015 Goals – December Update

November was a hard month for me, which I have written about a couple times this month.  So I gave myself a lot of space this month to just focus on getting through the rough parts.  Here’s where I ended up on the goals!

A Better Relationship with God

  1. Take time each morning and night to spend with God. – Journaling was short and sweet this month.  I spent the evenings just writing my high and low of the day, as well as gratitude moments and prayer requests.  I know that sounds like a lot, but all of these were just in short phrases.    Morning journal time was replaced with First Five – and app from the Proverbs 31 crew.  I still love this!

Honoring Marriage

  1. Have prayer times specifically directed about Michael – This month, we prayed together a lot.  There were just some really rough patches, and I’m glad we have God to lean on during this time.

Living A Healthier Life

  1. Live a more active life – I didn’t walk as much as I would have liked, but I did walk the morning of Thanksgiving.  Walking is such a meditative thing for me.  Plus, I took Jerzee along and showed her my old neighborhood.  I don’t know if she was that impressed though, ha!

Get The House in Order

  1. Work on projects set aside in the kitchen, library, and master bedroom – I am waiting for one more thing to come in for my master bedroom project.  It is really coming together, and I can’t wait to show you!

Being Involved in the Community

  1. Volunteer with the SPCA– I worked with some dogs at the shelter, and then I worked at their special Christmas event, which I will talk about tomorrow!

Developing Personal Time

  1. Schedule a pamper/relaxation time each month– My mom and I got pedicures on Black Friday (which I prefer a lot over shopping!)

I’m not sure if I am going to do a final entry since New Year’s Day (the first day of January), I will probably share my new goals.  I’m going to think about it over this month.  I might just do a quick update sometime that week.  Thank you for following me this year as I worked on these goals!  I appreciate it so much!

Did you work on goals?  Are you like me and already working on next year’s goals?

2015 November Update

October started out pretty well, but I could feel things getting a little crazier by the end of the month.  Some new things did change this month!

A Better Relationship with God

  1. Take time each morning and night to spend with God. – Journaling at night almost completely fell off by the end of the month.  I still journaled from time to time, and I have a new journal that I will be trying for the month of November to see if that helps.  Morning journal time was replaced with First Five – and app from the Proverbs 31 crew.  I love it!

Honoring Marriage

  1. Have prayer times specifically directed about Michael – About mid-month, Michael started having some back issues and illness, so prayers started to really focus on his healing.  He’s doing much better, but I have to admit, I did enjoy taking care of him when he was down.

Living A Healthier Life

  1. Live a more active life – There were ups and downs to this.  When Michael’s back problems started, we stopped walking in the morning.  However, right about that time, I started taking care of four dogs outside of my two at home.  This included a lot of walking and playing outside.  I have to say, this is my absolute favorite kind of exercise!

Get The House in Order

  1. Work on projects set aside in the kitchen, library, and master bedroom – Towards the end of October, I managed to get some stuff accomplished in the bedroom.  I’m hoping to complete that by the end of November (another blog post *hopefully* by the end of the month).  As for the library, the changes that I want to do to the room, I think will happen next year.  We really focused on Michael’s coral tanks this year instead of what I originally thought I would focus on, which was productive in itself.

Being Involved in the Community

  1. Volunteer with the SPCA– Fostered dog six this month

Developing Personal Time

  1. Schedule a pamper/relaxation time each month– I got my nails done at my favorite salon.  And I loved the girl who did them.  Her name was Mandy (I’m writing that here so I won’t forget!)

It’s slowly getting colder here, and I’m ready for the cooler weather.  I think I realized this weekend that November is going to be a lot harder than I thought it would be.  All I can do is give myself permission to have space and take time to work through whatever I need to!

Did you work on goals?  Can you believe there are only two more months to the year?

2015 October Update

September was a whirlwind of crazy.  I didn’t do so well on the goals this month, but I did start some new things, so I’m going to give myself a bit of a break.

A Better Relationship with God

  1. Take time each morning and night to spend with God. – I did not do this every night.  Between travel and a lot of work events, this unfortunately took a back seat to my day.  And to be honest, I really felt the difference.  It just gives me renewed motivation to stick to this plan for October.  On the other hand, I did start writing more on my blog in September, so my actual writing time didn’t diminish.

Honoring Marriage

  1. Have prayer times specifically directed about Michael – Funny enough, since my time with God decreased, so did a lot of my time for prayer for Michael.  We were in survival mode in September, and as the month started to slow down (which has literally been in the last three days), I find our conversations and my prayer time increase again.

Living A Healthier Life

  1. Live a more active life – Did a LOT of walking this month.  I think in one day in DC, we walked 20,000 steps which is a little more than a 10K!  I had some health issues this month, though (including a nagging sinus infection I’m dealing with now), so I will be glad to get back into a routine in the month of October.

Get The House in Order

  1. Work on projects set aside in the kitchen, library, and master bedroom – Since we finished a major project in August, we didn’t do much in September.  I do hope to get something done in October, though!  We may push one of the projects into next year.

Being Involved in the Community

  1. Volunteer with the SPCA– I didn’t have a lot of time to work with the SPCA, although I did volunteer with them when I was in town.  I missed fostering, and I’m ready to get back into it soon!

Developing Personal Time

  1. Schedule a pamper/relaxation time each month– I had a facial in D.C., which was okay.  But I also got my house professionally cleaned, which was SO nice!

October is here!  And according to the forecast, we will be out of the 90 degree weather for a week (hopefully for the rest of the season!).  I look forward to pulling out my scarves and coats again.  I realize it probably won’t be October, but I hope it’s soon!

2015 September Update

I can’t believe August is already over.  I know I’m a day late on this update, but that is because September is going to be cah-razy!  Anyway, here is the update.

A Better Relationship with God

  1. Take time each morning and night to spend with God. – I was better at this in the morning than I was at night.  My days were just so busy that I conked out as soon as the day ended.

Honoring Marriage

  1. Have prayer times specifically directed about Michael – Michael had a job transition this month which has been so good for our family.  Lots of gratitude prayers went up this month.

Living A Healthier Life

  1. Live a more active life – Didn’t get to do yoga as much as I wanted to, but Michael and I started walking three times a week in the morning.  It has been great!

Get The House in Order

  1. Work on projects set aside in the kitchen, library, and master bedroom – Finished the kitchen project!  Post coming this Friday.

Being Involved in the Community

  1. Volunteer with the SPCA– I have now fostered five dogs.  I will have some travel this next month that will make me unable to foster, however, we walk in the Alzheimer’s Walk at the end of September, so my focus will be on that.

Developing Personal Time

  1. Schedule a pamper/relaxation time each month– I got my hair cut, which I realize isn’t really a pamper for some people, but I haven’t had it cut for a year and a half.  It felt amazing!

I’m so excited for September.  I really love the autumn season.  The pumpkin flavors are already out and now the weather just needs to get cooler!

2015 August Update

July has been absolutely crazy for me at work, so my focus was all over the place.  Regardless, here are updates on my goals

A Better Relationship with God

  1. Take time each morning and night to spend with God. – I actually struggled with this in July.  I’m trying to find a new rhythm, so sometimes these moments in journal time were quick or hurried.  I’m still trying to find a good rhythm so, this may be a struggle in August as well.  We shall see.

Honoring Marriage

  1. Have prayer times specifically directed about Michael – Michael had some job stress and transition this month, so this was quite easy to accomplish.

Living A Healthier Life

  1. Live a more active life – I started walking my dogs in the morning at least a couple times a week.  I need to get yoga back in my life.  The rhythm thing I mentioned above somehow knocked out the time I used to do yoga.  I miss it, so it will definitely be something I incorporate into August.

Get The House in Order

  1. Work on projects set aside in the kitchen, library, and master bedroom – Still working on finding time to complete the kitchen.  Since June and July are both birthday months for Michael and me, projects were put on hold.  August, however, might be the month we finish this!

Being Involved in the Community

  1. Volunteer with the SPCA– I am on my fourth foster in the home.  She is precious.  Also, we have a plan at the end of the month for a Alzheimer fundraiser.

Developing Personal Time

  1. Schedule a pamper/relaxation time each month– I actually got this done the second to last week in July.  I had some comp time at work, so I took the day and got a pedicure.

I can’t believe it’s already August.  Summer is almost over!  How has your summer been going?

2015 July Update

This past month, I focused more on the fasting attempt from posession and birthday stuff, so I wasn’t quite as intentional about these goals as I have been in the past. Anyway, here’s the update!

A Better Relationship with God

  1. Take time each morning and night to spend with God. – Still going strong with this.  Sometimes it’s just a brief thought, sometimes it is a page or two long.  Much like the ebb and flow of my relationship with God, always there in some degree.

Honoring Marriage

  1. Have prayer times specifically directed about Michael – To be honest, this past month has been not quite as good about intentional awareness.  However, I realized how the previous months have helped me become more organically aware of spending time with him, doing things that he wants to do, and keeping him in prayer during more stressful seasons in his work.

Living A Healthier Life

  1. Live a more active life – I still have a weight regimen and yoga interspersed through the month.  I find that when I have a foster dog in the home, it’s more difficult to have yoga time or really any personal time.  I want to incorporate more dog walks this month.

Get The House in Order

  1. Work on projects set aside in the kitchen, library, and master bedroom – Still working on finding time to complete the kitchen.  Since June and July are both birthday months for Michael and me, I think the projects will be put on hold during this time.  However, that doesn’t mean the creative wheels aren’t turning!

Being Involved in the Community

  1. Volunteer with the SPCA– I have now had three fosters in the home, which has been awesome.  I have also attended a seminar this past month to help me work with the dogs in new ways.  Michael and I are gearing up for some Alzheimer fundraisers coming out in the next couple of months.

Developing Personal Time

  1. Schedule a pamper/relaxation time each month– The last week of June, I scheduled a hot stone massage.  I spent a bit more than normal, but it was a birthday gift to me, so I let it slide.  The lady was awesome, and the spa was near home, so it was kind of exciting to find this gem.  I hope to go back to them in the future.

Well, on to July we go!  How was your June?
